When we're bad, Is it harder to watch a bad LSU offense or defense?

For me, it's harder to watch when LSU has a bad defense. Having a ferocious, run stopping, hard hitting, ball hawking defense is almost an identity for LSU. With a bad offense, I always feel our defense would bail us out and win us the game.

Give me 2011. Great defense that sets up the offense and makes them look halfway decent.

Bad offenses can't score points. You can't win a game without scoring points.

Bad offense.
Hate seeing a great defensive effort hung out to dry due to offensive ineptitude.
At least a good offense can still create some fireworks for viewers.

Defenses win championships. The 2011 LSU defense was good enough to get us there and we would have won it had it not been a fluke year.

I would much rather watch bad offense with a good defense.

Incompetent coaching is hardest to watch

I'd rather watch bad defense.
1998, 2008, 2013...at least the games can be exciting.

LSU's trademark in the history of the program is a tough defense. The fans (and myself) are happiest when the defense is good. When they're not good, we're lost as fans.

I'd say defense. We win the championship in 2011 playing anybody else in the nation, but Bama.

Agreed 100%
Give me a top 10 defense over a top 10 offense anyday

It's harder to watch a truly bad defense, and it ain't really close. I think one of the posters above me mentioned that a dominating defense can make an average offense look good--if only because they give the O a lot more time on the field.
A bad O can always make something happen if the opportunity presents itself (we compiled a pretty impressive record from 09-12 with generally subpar offensive play).
With a bad D, your offense can be pretty damned good and you'll still lose a bunch of heartbreaking games because no lead is safe from a halfway decent offensive attack.

What hard about this question is I have to remember all the way back to 1999 to find a BAD lsu team.
The offense was lnept until dinardo left and then they put 40+ on arky
The defense didnt matter bc the offense would find a way to score a few points less.
Anyway last bad team I remember
