SI Coaches rank (Miles 6th) LINK

Let's get this out of the way. Saban is one of the greatest college coaches of all time. Tireless worker and recruiter that emphasizes even the smallest details.

I think Miles biggest problem is complacency. In the BCS game against Bama it appeared they made no changes from their game plan from November. Outside of Saban what coach has done more than Miles in the last 10 years? Could LSU get a better X and O guy than Miles? Probably. Could they get someone better suited to handle the pressure of winning in an ultimately competitive league? Maybe.

Miles might not be perfect but what coaches out there are? With very few exceptions, long term coaches at programs, have a very hard time maintaining exceptional programs.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Miles, this really is the only question. Which coaches out there are you SURE could come in and do better? As well as is not on the table, because there's no reason to make a change for the status quo.

Though he didn't do as well when he was here the first time, the automatic assumption is Saban...so we'll list him first. Who else? I'd say Urban Meyer based on his ability to win big at three straight stops. Anyone else? Any one else you KNOW could come in and do it?

For every Urban Meyer Florida hire, there's a Ron Zook...or even a Will Muschamp. As much as I like Miles, I'm far too cautious to toss him out in HOPES we can replace the coach with the highest winning percentage in our program's history with a guy that will improve on that. If it was that easy, everyone with deep pockets would do it when they got angry. This seems like a problem to face when he decides to leave, or actually starts to tank.
