Busting people and putting them in jail for something that is legal one state over is ridiculous.
they don't sentence people to prison time for possession of weed under an ounce. that is one of the biggest myths i see all the time, especially for a first time offender, which i'm pretty sure bowe is in the eyes of the law. yes, he may have been arrested and bonded out, but so are people charged with driving on a suspended license, public intoxication, etc. he's not going to be sentenced with anything more than a fine, random drug screenings, and probation, which is plenty appropriate.
furthermore, it is 100% legal to possess a gun with a permit in the majority of states. carry one in the wrong place, and you can serve prison time (plaxico burress; btw, i'm not comparing the two offenses in terms of severity, just that laws aren't always comparable across state lines). i agree that marijuana laws are stupid by and large, but weed being legal in some states and not others is not why the laws are stupid.

Yes they do. Not all that often and not usually first offense, but yes people go to prison for weed poss.

Yes, so he was taken to jail. And some poor folk sit in jail for months bc they lack the money for bond.

Why is all this appropriate? Why should an adult have a conviction and all these requirements? What would be appropriate would be for the government to mind its own business.
