Yes. That's what they'll be doing. They'll be enforcing the rules more tightly, so teams and players will have to hone their defensive skills better if they wish to succeed at basketball. I've been calling for this to happen for years, and now that it is happening, I'm excited about the inevitable direction of the college game.

You said yourself earlier in the thread that this will bring back the nonexistent mid-range jumper. After watching this game, it seems as though every team should be driving the ball to the basket, initiating contact and getting to the line, thereby eliminating the mid-range jumper all together.

The lack of scoring in CBB wasn't due to teams being able to get away with hand-check fouls, it was due to guys simply being unable to knock down open jumpers. Though the Big 10 was miserable to watch, but there were shots to be had. The new rule will increase scoring, but only from the FT line. All the while, slowing games down to a crawl. This was a 2.5 hour game!!! The same guys who couldn't shoot before, still won't be able to.
