Not always. Petro/ chemical engineers and mechanical engineers, as a whole, make more money in BR and the Houston area than anywhere else. I made $78K to start in Mobile with a degree from South Alabama. I was offered a job in BR, along with an engineer from Auburn and LSU and when we talked, we were all offered about the same, 87K each, to start. It more so depends on where you are as to where you went to school, at that point.

yea, you obviously can be successful coming from most major universities.

LSU has the advantage with the engineering jobs in the area and houston being closer. Doesn't mean it is a better education
