I'll try to be more clear in MY position. Note: I am not claiming I have the "correct" one. Just mine.

1) Two attractive young people are walking around and do not know one another.

Now, She can give her egg to someone or let it pass unfertilized and flush it down the toilet

He can give his sperm to anyone or just spill it in the shower.

2) They meet by chance and have sex ending in fertilization.

Now, She has a "tissue mass" in her. She can decide to keep it or have it removed. She owes nothing to the "mass". Nor, does she owe the dude visitation rights to the mass.

He has nothing in him and owes her NOTHING at this point.

3) She decides to give birth. NOW, both owe something to that child. SHE owes that child support AND owes the dude visitation rights to said child. She owes him some duty in decisions about that child

He owes support to that child.

So, UNTIL the child is born....NEITHER owes anything. Once that child is born...they BOTH have a legal obligation to it.

There is no inequality here.

BHP - I know you don't want to go down this path, but combining the above, and

quote:

So, UNTIL the child is born

might lead one to conclude you have defined the problem away, in order to justify a particular practice.

In your mind, does the "tissue mass" have any rights, whatsoever, until it breathes room air? And, if so, what is so magical about that act?

(If I misinterpreted your position, I apologize.)
