Had a steak at Kreis last winter. It was top notch imo. Not sure how close it is to downtown though.

go to "the hill", its the old italian part of town, where yogi berra's from. many choices there, i like rigazzi's. also, if you haven't yet, try st louis style pizza anywhere.
