even if it was an AR-15, that isn't an assault rifle because an assault rifle is select fire with a fully automatic option like an M-16. Not to mention that California has some of the toughest gun control laws in the entire country and the shooting was at an airport in a post 9/11 world where we are supposed to have all of this extra added security to make us all safer. 
I haven't heard anything about a description of the shooter which usually means that the shooter doesn't fit the gun control narrative.

Probably a black man who only shot white people. Jesse Jackson will be along shortly to tell us its racist that they arrested him for only doing what his culture dictates that he should do.
