Rumors that Arndt's script was pretty good but Abrams wants to be the "writer and director" and it was a power play by him.

Not necessarily a bad thing, until Abrams makes a dud, it's hard not to trust him. Even if he is only playing to his ego. Plenty of directors do that successfully.

And that the script needed to be "dumbed down" considerably for "modern audiences".

Now that is worrisome. But I wouldn't call A New Hope complex.

Maybe he's dumbing it down by not talking about Trade Federation politics for 20 minutes? I'm ok with that.

There wasn't much about those movies that wasn't easy to ingest. Inception, Star Wars is not. I'm sure that's what they mean...it doesn't have to be intricate dialogue or plotlines. shite, some of the dialogue in the first six are laughably atrocious.

Also, definitely this:

Disney has a lot riding on a strict schedule. Let's not act like that's not worth some consideration. Abram's and crew may just have to work a little overtime to get VII out on time.

Sticking to a schedule is not a bad thing, and doesn't have to mean that they are "rushing" to the point of faildom.
