Best tracking dog I had was a Cur. We didn't even have to train her(not saying that you don't have to train a Cur) but they just seem to have this sixth sense about them.

Only thing is, a Cur usually has a mean streak in them.

But if you bring them up as a pup around your children and family, they are very protective, loving and loyal to family members.
