Yalls logic is rock solid. 2010, 2011, and 2012 were all anomalies. But the season after we lose a record number of underclassmen to the nfl is not an anomaly, but proof that he was overrate all along. Brilliant reasoning.
Chavis is not an awful coordinator, but he does play scare against talented strong teams.
It is HISTORY..that was what got him fired at TN.
Chavis is not by nature an aggressive coordinator, he was lucky that he had in years past, aggressive players and leaders...his reputation improved because of that only.
At times he seems to play TO NOT LOSE, instead of playing to win.

He was not fired by Tennessee. Fulmer was. If anything, his defense in 2008 (the year Fulmer was fired) was #3 in the nation int total yards allowed and #10 in points allowed.
That said, I think Chavis was a great DC, but just is declining now and is a little above average, especially with the fundamental shifts in how offenses are being run and his position coaching is a bit overrated.
Without freakish talent and very strongly coached DBs, his defenses suffer and he has huge issues coaching tied or with a lead in the closing minutes. Heck, multiple teams including Bama have said they knew exactly what to expect on their last minute drives from Chavis and that's why they succeeded.

I bet you are 100% correct on your def calls right after the play
