We are in trouble! Defense may be a little better probably losing Freak and Ego. Offense will be much worse--losing Hill,Mett,Beckham,Landry and Collins. Poor talent evaluation by LSU has cost this program.

I expect to lose OBJ & Landry. Beyond those, there's a lot that can happen in a year.

We'll be good to go with Jennings. While I like Mett, the goal is to win EVERY game. When you have a gunslinger at qb, all it takes is one bad game (see ole miss) to blow the season.
I argue the same for the Jefferson/Lee debate.

Come on, man. It is not poor talent evaluation. If anything I think the staff does a great job of finding underrated players.
I do think next year will be a struggle because of a lot of first time players at key positions.
QB - Jennings (1st time)
RB - Hilliard, Magee, Fournette
FB - Jones (1st time)
WR - a lot of inexperience (Dural, Leslie, Peterson, Diarse, etc.)
TE - Dickson, Smith, Stokes, Dillon (nice group)
OL - will be very strong (which is encouraging, cause that's where most games are won or lost)
DT - gonna be brutal (Thomas, LaCouture, Gilmore, Bain, Johnson)
DE - Allen, Hunter, Bower, Neal, Beckwith
LB - about the same as this year (Welter, Kwon, Louis, etc)
CB - Mills, White, Robinson, freshmen - could be a nice group
S - same as this year - Thompson, Martin, Eugene, Jefferson
All in all, if we get to 9 wins it will be a very good year!

Crazy talk...
LSU is still on course to sign maybe 6-8 5-star player's, and while not quite 'hoops' like, that's still a crazy amount of talent coming in, much of it at the skill positions that can contribute right away.
LSU football next year may resemble Kentucky hoops in that regard.

Also, this is just my opinion but Ego and Freak should consider coming back for their senior seasons. I would think that they can't project to go any higher than mid third round right now. And that being the highest I could see them going.

Money talks, and if their draft projections keep taking hit's this year, somebody has a shot at talking some sense into these two.
But, who know's their personal situations, they might bolt for less money because they need that now, not next year.
We'll see.

NO one is leaving that defense to go to the NFL early...and if they are after the performances from this year, then there are some dumbasses out there.
The offense is starting off from scratch though. Won't have a clue what to expect there. At this point though, Jennings better get some serious playing time since the team isn't even going to Atlanta at this point.

No underclassmen on the defense should consider leaving aside from ego and that's a coin flip.

A serious question. Is the talent coming in that much better than the talent in 11-12'? A good number of those individuals are playing on Sundays with a few starting and having impact. So if we did not win a NC with that awesome talent, what will be different this time around?? We are told that Miles is and elite coach and recruiter but are also told that we have unrealistic expectations. So with this talent that may be signed, what is a realistic expectation over their 3/4/5 year college career?? 10 wins may or may not get you an SEC title and will not get you a NC. Should we over the next 5 yrs expect 1 SEC west championship? 1 SEC championship? Any NC's? I know you didn't say anything bout expectations going forward but it ties into having all this talent. I go to every game till the clock reads 00:00 and am called a BAMA fan for thinking Saban is so much better than Miles it ain't funny. But maybe what I need to do is lower my expectations. Damn right I expect NC every year. Cause that is what elite programs expect. When 10-2 is a disappointment, then you are elite.

Mett, Hill, Beckham, and Landry will likely go between 1-2nd round, no later than third. I would bet the house that coach Haley and Miles would advise Johnson and Ego to stay another year. Johnson has done nothing, and cannot defeat a doube team yet. If he plays 4-3 DT, he will be double teamed consistently. If he plays 3-4 DE he will be double teamed consistently. If you can't defeat some of these combinations of college centers and guards who won't make the NFL, how do you plan to beat the combination of an all pro NFL guard and/or center. Until he learns to beat that like Dorsey, Brockers, Logan, and others, he will not be a success in the NFL.
Ego has been the better of the two, but his performance is up and down. If he comes back another year and improves a little, with better players around him and a more consistent game, he will be one of the higher DT taken. No doubt some agent will try to fill their minds with these thoughts that they are 1st - 2nd round locks, but hope they are honest with themselves, because neither are ready for the NFL right now. To be honest, not a single player on our defense is really NFL ready at this point.

My feelings exactly. At this point it doesn't matter how much talent we have, with Les as our coach we won't be winning any NC's.
