In one of my leagues, intra division tie breakers are division record and then points. This works since we should play everyone in our division twice.
Between divisions, it's total points. This was done to minimize the possible advantage a team could have if one division is weaker in a given year.
In your case, I understand the idea of the head-to-head tiebreaker but I'd rather judge a team by their entire season instead of one game.
