I honestly think we only had the success we did in 2011 because Les' hand was forced on several aspects for most of the season until he decided to force his hand at the end.

That is honestly one of the strangest arguments I've ever heard. So the entirety of the year was Les doing things he didn't want to do, except the game that we lost? How can any sane person justify that point? He gets no credit for the exceptional season, but gets blame for the one loss? Are you that stupid?

Further, if Les is such a great recruiter as many claim

Well, he obviously is, or else such an "idiot" coach wouldn't win very much, right?

If anything, Les' failure in 2012 recruiting

Wait, were you expecting redshirt freshmen and true sophomores to be SEC elite? That seems naive.

Chavis' defense is only great when it has studs and Ron Cooper as a DB coach.

Well, yea. Studs make for a great defense. How many of the elite defenses at Tennessee did Chavis have Cooper with? Or, again, maybe you could point to the fact that our defense is young as hell...

Why? He had no choice but to go against his personal preferences, especially on offense. It forced him away from his comfort zone, then JJ came back and Les was intent on forcing him back in for some strange reason.

It happens to lots of coaches. They only change when circumstances force them to and it works out for them.

Les has done well on average, but his past 2 to 3 years have been mediocre in comparison. He's being out recruited by rivals with less available to them.

Where did I say elite defense should be expected? There is a difference between being straight bad, being a good defense, and being an elite defense. LSU is a bad defense right now and talent is not an excuse. Our DBs all regressed last year that had previous playing experience, yet those elite talents simply all had a bad year at the same time.

Again, his defenses at Tennessee were entirely dependent on talent. If there weren't numerous studs, they were bad. When he had studs, they were great. Great coaches make good defense with good talent, mediocre coaches make great defenses with great talent and mediocre defense with good talent. Chavis is the latter.
