Which one is the outlier? 2011 or 2007?

blaming lack of talent on LSU for our defensive woes
Well, it's objectively true that we lost a lot on defense. Do you think that Chavis somehow lost his ability to coach a defense, or do you think that maybe the easier answer is that we are pretty young there now?

Defense talent pool is down, half these guys this year would have been backups if we don't lose players to draft. With that being said half this group would have been ready to go and play much better next year. Just what happens when you get an elite program.

2007 was a serious outlier in the result it achieved, but it was a typical Les season. Two losses and tough games versus significantly less talented teams with one extremely strong OOC game.
2011 was the true outlier and I honestly think we only had the success we did in 2011 because Les' hand was forced on several aspects for most of the season until he decided to force his hand at the end.

Yes, LSU lost a lot of talent, but is LSU's 2-deep worse than Ole Miss' 3-deep? Team's with significantly less talent seem to perform at the same level as LSU.
Further, if Les is such a great recruiter as many claim, LSU shouldn't be in such dire straights because of early entries. If anything, Les' failure in 2012 recruiting is what cost this team on the defensive side and has proven that Chavis' defense is only great when it has studs and Ron Cooper as a DB coach.
