EXACTLY. 4 straight losses where the D couldn't get off the field.
Which gives LSU a higher probability of winning?

1. getting the ball back down 3 with no timeouts and 25 seconds left or
2. holding OM to a 3 and out and getting it back tied with 2 minutes left?

The fact that its having to be explained to you makes me think you have mis-framed it and are probably too entrenched to ever understand it, but I'll explain it to you anyway.

There is no barrier to situation 1. There were 11 freaks of nature in Ole Miss jerseys who practice 6 days a week on the field trying to make sure number 2 didn't happen.

Nobody is saying we would rather 1 than 2. 2 not happening is forgivable because there is a legitimate opposition you have to conquer. Nobody from Ole Miss was trying to stop Les Miles from calling timeout.
