IMHO, the Kahler was the ultimate floating trem if you are going to palm mute. On top of that the rollers on the Kahler made it less succeptible to string pops when pulling up.
Dollar for dollar I would put schecter against ibanez, but like a few have said, it's all a preference deal. Yngwie dives and uses his trem constantly on old 60s strats and it works for him. Petrucci uses standard trems and locking nuts since leaving ibanez while multitudes of guitarists have used floyds and their successors for decades. A good standard trem blocked back and locking nuts are all anyone needs unless you require flutter for specific songs.
