Some Google News clicking around this morning led me to an interesting article about the Australian national team.

Apparently, they've had some rough results lately and turmoil within the team, fired the coach, etc.

I've always found Australia interesting, because their growth as a footballing nation has paralleled (or mimicked) ours.

Anyway, today's soccer board challenge: Post a current article, from a legitimate news source, about the state of affairs of another country's national team.

I'd like to limit it to one per country, unless the article is too great to pass up.

My contribution:

Sydney Morning Herald - Socceroos have lost their way.

Like the idea.

I'm in Crete right now so here's one on the Greek national team.

Belgium's succes tied to players in BPL
Possibly
I guess you could argue that they'd be just as good if they were playing in Germany, Spain or Italy.

It's gone from bad to worse for my second home, South Africa.

Allegations have been out that they fixed matches prior to hosting the 2010 World Cup, and they must have some truth to them because... Puma ends South Africa contract with "immediate effect".

So after hosting the World Cup, they've bombed out of the last few AFCONs, not qualified for Brazil and now they're losing a very popular sponsor in Puma.
