Come to think of it, I still have absolutely no use for a pistol.
Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

depends on the kid.. you know your kid best. IF indid get a kid that young one it would be a single action 22 revolver and it would be locked away unless i was with him

Exactly. I've still got all my childhood gun that I got for Christmas presents and birthday presents and my son is using them now. He was using my Model 7 .243 this weekend that I got when I was 9.

uh, definitely not 13.
Probably more like 18, but at least 16.

I didn't play with my pistol at home but at the camp, my buddy and I were free to roam on 4 wheelers with our 6-shooters killing snakes and other vermin. It would probably be considered bad parenting these days, but I was always extremely safe with it and glad I was raised like that.

Buy the kid a good quality 22 pistol or something like that. He will enjoy it well after you're dead and gone.
May I suggest a stainless Ruger single six?

I had free reign with mine as well, but my dad does have a bad arse range set up behind the house.

My old man would have never let me pick up a handgun out of his sight until I was in high school at least.

Pops was a plant working safety nazi. No way I was putting my hands on one of those.

I didn't head out with it the first day I got it but I didn't take long for me to be out burning up bricks of .22 on my own.

What about a chainsaw?

Damn, I was forced to run one long before that. Sometimes I think my old man just liked to see us busting our arse so he didn't have to.

When you say pistol, do you mean The Judge?

Yes.
I duck hunt. I don't need a pistol. Do I have some, yes, do I use them often. No.

Whats a good ageI don't know that there is a hard and fast rule on a particular age. It all depends on the maturity level of your kid. I had a pistol when I was around his age but my dad kept it with his guns and I only got to shoot it when we went out to shoot together. I couldn't just go get it whenever I wanted and go shoot. Looking back on it this was a good compromise. I got to say that I had a gun but for all intents and purposes it was my dad's pistol. My dad later gave it to me when I moved out of the house to go to college.
This is how I did it for my two kids.
But, I did give them there very own air pistols that they controlled.
