Speaking of oil changes, my Silverado tells me when to do it. I've gotten into a bad habit of ignoring the milage and waiting on the warning.
Looking back over my history at the oil change place, this warning is now coming up in shorter periods. First two changes were like 7,000 miles. Last two were 3,000. Can the oil change place mess with the settings or is my truck actually needing quicker changes?

Downshift may know more, but I know for me the mileage ratings have been pretty consistent between changes. I change my oil about once a year.

Has your driving style changed? Did you do a lot of highway travel early on and then more city commuting later?
Those oil life monitors use an algorithm that monitors your driving style between oil change intervals. So if you drive the interstate a lot for the first oil change, and then like a bat out of hell in the city for the second...your intervals will drop. Could also be your motor getting more and more broken in and adjusting to your driving style...just a guess.
