So how about that trick play?

Idk if this has been discussed or not yet but what the hell was going on during that play?? Was it supposed to be a throwback to Jennings?? Why did the Lineman start running down field? They think Mett was about to sprint for the end zone??
That whole play was confusing and a complete waste.

supposed to be a throwback to Jennings but the defender sniffed it out, Mett didn't really have another option. Not a great play, but does give future coaches something to spend a little extra time on.

Danielson said it would have gone for a touchdown. he thought it was a brilliant play. Danielson was all positive on everything miles did yesterday. how come most of the media are calling miles a genius?

It's basically the QB Screen. WKU ran it on UK last year in OT for the win. UF defense read it well. Mett threw it away down field and we got a penalty. Jennings throws to Mett, Mett turns and throws back to Jennings with a convoy of lineman in front of him.
Only reason I don't like the play call is OBJ/Landry had been dominating Purifoy/Roberson/Hargreaves up till that point, especially on that drive. Purifoy and Roberson were on the sidelines.. We didn't need to try and get cute there.

We weren't saving that for bama. It's on tape now and they will be setup when they won't be allowed to sub on defense.

You would have thought that the play was supposed to go downfield ala TD with option to throw back to Jennings. I think OL's just messed up.

I'm not a fan of trick plays when we are up against a team we can beat straigh up unless the a situation where the momentum is swinging away from us or some other sort of situational dynamic.

If the one defensive end doesn't stay home, then it's a big play, maybe a td. Nobody else from UF was on that side of the field. It's not like we put up 40 pts on Florida. A well executed trick play can help.
As for those complaining about Mett and Jennings being in the game and telegraphing it, did you really thing UF was going to punt late in the fourth? LSU left the defense on the field, but the crazy formation still created enough confusion for Florida to get the first down.

But if it worked, then it would have been brilliant. Easy to knock it after it doesn't work.
