Well being that there are scholarship limits and differences i'd say yes it does influence the quanity of quality players, then yeah.. I'd say it influences them. And why do you try to treat everything is in a vacuum when it isn't? Like HFA, Div of opponent etc etc.

So you're saying if LSU played the same schedule and had the same results but had a Div III by their name, they would be less deserving.

The division of the opponent is absolutely irrelevant. Only their on field results matter.
HFA is a problem. I've addressed this. See above.
