Its a new breed of fan that is MORE interesting in tailgating then they are in the game itself. They drink all day and literally cannot sit in the stadium for 3 hours because they are itching to return to their tailgate to drink more.
This x1000. The tailgate culture at TS into the mid to late 2000's was decidedly male & decidedly hard drinking - forget this beer pong, keg stand who can get the drunkest and look like a fool idiocy. I'm talking bourbon & Coke types. Folks who could handle their liquor all day & were smart about getting it into the stadium. A good tailgate consisted of a BBQ pit, plenty of booze, maybe some tables & the pre-game show on the radio. If music was playing it was LSU music. The kids that were there were all playing football non-stop until it was time to go to the stadium. All of this translated into a culture that knew what good football was and were desperate to see it. This was the culture that would scream until their eyes bled deep into the fourth quarter against teams like Akron. Even after a LOSS, you could hear the shouts of "GOOOOO" "TIIIIGERS" all over campus. The fans & tailgates themselves were completely about football. LSU football.
Now, the LSU football fans who made the legend of Tiger Stadium are being replace by a bunch of immature retards who think LSU football, Mardi Gras & Bourbon Street are the same thing. Walk around campus on game day. You wouldn't even know a football game was going to happen.
Oh, the piped in music sucks. We used to do something before they started piping in music.
We were yelling.
