This is the worst thread, and it's not the OP's fault! Any scholly counts as a football scholly if you play football. Also, to those saying Manny won't get overlooked, that's not what the OP said. He said - admittedly replete with solecisms - he hoped HE wouldn't over look (LSU implied).

Any Athletic Scholarship counts as football, that is, scholarship sponsored by the Athletic Program.
Academic schollies do not count
UNless that rule changed in the last 3-4 years, as I know there were players who played on TOPS schollies a few years ago
