Covington Mayor Cooper announced Thursday that charges have been dropped against two referees who were arrested during the St. Paul's vs. Mandeville football game last Friday.

The police said they had 25 witnesses and video that backed up the cop's version. They were all set to go to court.

....not.

Later, the Mayor said

quote:

On behalf of the city of Covington, I offer my sincere apology to Mr. Radcliffe and Mr. Gambino ... for the manner in which this was handled," Cooper said.

"We all agree this could have easily been handled differently. It is my goal to put this matter behind us, gain credibility for the Covington Police Department under its new leadership and restore a positive image to our great city."
