The LHSAA guy said officer was acting on his own as a spectator. The people causing the issues were the officers guests. He was a fan but showed up in his uni to get on the sideline. Confusion came in when ref thought he was working the game. Cop wasn't being paid and it was his people causing the issue.

Ruh-roh. Here comes the lawsuit.
An off duty cop is disturbing the peace at a local football game, and in turn starts arresting people on trumped up charges.
