Either way, the cop at the game I does need to follow the referees request. The cop himself, is not above the rules of the athletic contest.
The attitude that you have stated at least twice in this thread, "I am the law and I don't have to listen to anyone but my supervisor" is the exact reasons there are civilian/LEO distrust. Cops are supposed to SERVE and protect, not get into bullying matches and power struggles.
