Hopefully they change the mechanics and controls before the final product is released. If not at least the oppurtunity to patch it is there

If the game doesn't experience a drastic overhaul in its mechanics, then it's a design decision, not an inadvertent error in game design. Many competitive players already feel this way, and are therefore doubtful as to whether the mechanics will be overhauled.

The roster and the character abilities look incredible, so it's difficult for me to not get excited and be at least somewhat hopeful that they acknowledge the core players and address their concerns.

Based on what I played at Best Buy, however, I just don't know - the game's engine just felt entirely too limiting and restrictive, and it's difficult for me to believe that such implementations weren't intentional.

To analogize this, imagine playing a muliplayer FPS game on your PC, yet the look sensitivity is locked at an exceptionally low value - so much so that you find yourself picking up your mouse and moving it across your mouse pad multiple times just to perform a 180 degree turn.

What specifically did you think it was restrictive of? Obviously wavedashing, but is there a certain class of characters that was restrictive, like speed or ariel characters? I've heard they nerfed Marth and Fox, but I'm hoping that Lucina is a pretty unaltered Marth from Melee, and maybe Falco can come to the rescue of Fox.
