Check this thread tomorrow. I'll write up some recs when I get in to work. I don't feel like typing all that on my iPad.

Im in the Heights, but I used to live close to Sugar Land. So I'm pretty familiar with your area.

Bars

Hay Merchant - This place is awesome. One of the best tap selections in Houston. Plus they have 5 rotating casks that are usually pretty unique. They sell growlers as well. That's where I get my Live Oak Hefe growlers.

Petrol Station - Another good beer joint with good burgers. They usually have an awesome selection on tap and usually highlight hoppy beers. They won Stone's most bitter beer bar in America award.

D&T Ice House - Cool place with a good line up. Great for sitting outside in this weather

Flying Saucer (Sugar Land and Downtown)- Some people don't like it anymore, but they always have a few good beers on tap. So it's worth mentioning. The pretzels hit the spot when you're drunk.

Gingerman - If you're in Rice Village, Gingerman is the spot for beer. I haven't been in a while but it's a pretty cool laid back place. It's close to Rice U, so you may feel like you're at a beer bar in Bangalore...walk down the street and get some tacos at Torchy's

Liberty Station
I love this place and it's perfect for this weather. The food trucks that go there are usually pretty bad arse too.

Nobi in Clear Lake
I'm not sure how the hell this ended up in Clear Lake, but it's an awesome spot. the same guy owns a Shell Station on Blackhawk that usually has some good beers as well.

Here's a list of a few other places I'm too lazy to write about:

Richmond Arm's
Rudyards
Mongoose Vs Cobra
World of Beer in Katy
West Alabama Ice House

Beer Stores

Specs on Smith - This place is a staple

D&Q - It doesn't look like shite from the outside, but it's a beer mecca. It's gotten popular lately, so it's hard to get there in time for limited releases, but it's worth checking out. He also has a nice brewery glass selection if you need some.

Growlers on Montrose - Nice Growler shop. They use a new growler fill technique that is supposed to allow the beer to stay fresh longer...I never make it long enough to test that out though. They typically have a lot of good local beers on tap.

Rowdy's - It's in La Porte, so it's out there, but this is another hidden gem. It's in a gas station parking lot, but it's got a ton of good beer. The best part is they let you break up any six pack and make your own.

Central Market and HEB - Central Market has a really good selection and they tend to get all the good, limited stuff that goes HEB's way. A lot of the newer HEBs have a nice lineup as well. You can find some limited edition beers at some HEBs in the suburbs because the beer manager is clueless. The Bunker Hill location is probably the best regular HEB.

Sugarland Spots

Out in Sugarland there's a place called Barrel and Brew in the Fountains. It's a decent spot with a lot of local beers on tap. Guru Burger across from Flying Saucer also has some good beers on tap. They usually get the SA Bishop's Barrel releases. Same goes for their sister restaurant, Jupiter Pizza.

The beer manager at the Whole Foods in Sugarland sucks, so it's usually hit or miss.

I'm sure I forgot something, but this should get you started.
