Ok, things I learned:
Don't put them all out in front of the boss. Throw one out and then scatter a few around him
We don't need to be fighting a boss any time soon. We need to level up and try our luck later.

Reading, the boss is supposed to take all the damage from us as a group. 1 individual won't be able to defeat him and as we attack he should get weaker
