The doctors I know tell me that pa's "don't know shite" when they graduate. (Sorry...not trying to insult your girlfriend). But they get paid a lot. I have to look for a more lucrative career now so I can try and pay for my two nephews college education.

This may very well be true--I think the program is really rushed, especially when compared to MD's. Part of that could be eliminated by not requiring so many different clinicals--they do like 9 different rounds over 12 months. It seems like you don't have enough time to learn each specialization. This is all coming from an mere observer...
