No, guys. Let's not be logical. There's no way this team's defense is better than that year. Even though two SEC schools put 50+ on us and Troy put up 31, that year's team would never have given up this many points to this Georgia team. It doesn't matter how many talented Top 10 teams they've already faced and scored 38 points or more on. Never.
If that sounds absolutely stupid, it's because I was trying to think with the same level of intelligence (or lack thereof) that these sorts of ridiculous statements come from.
Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno didn't seem to have any trouble at all with that defense. They were winning 38-17 with time left in the 3rd quarter, and that's before scoring again. This is WITH the talent that OP claims we shouldn't insult with this comparison. They were worse as a unit even if they were less raw.
