Yeah, I went to take a piss and missed his injury. They are really having it handed to them, aren't they? They're playing terrible tonight.

Before, Union Parish was known as Farmerville, those are some straight up country boys. Duck Dynasty #6 Reed Robertson should be on the QC team. Louisiana is getting some High School Football love on the TV this year, I'm loving it here in South Texas.

Yeah, I saw that Jase was talking about him at halftime.

Farmerville came down to Port Barre for a semi-final match against us in 2000 or 2001 when they won the 2A Championship against Iota.

Daniel Francis was a Junior at the time before playing for Saban when he at LSU. We lost to Iota in the 1999 2A Championship but beat them them in the 2002 2A Championship, Daniel's Senior season.

ETA: At the time we played Farmerville, they had black and grey uniforms. Grey jerseys, since they were the visitors.

ETA2: I found out it was 2001 we played Farmerville.

I went to that game, I think it was the first home loss for Port Barre in like 3 or 4 years. The Farmers took it to the Red Devils that night he. Went I the beat Iota and Mr. football Jason Miller.

I'm a Farmer Alum and have a son that plays for OCS.

It's the first time in several years that we played a team that was more physical then us. Union is very physical and should make a run deep in the playoffs esp. since they don't have to deal with JC, ECA, and CBA anymore

One more thing, Union is the ONLY public school to vote no for the split!

What stood out to me was the speed that Union had verses OCS. They were everywhere making plays. If Union can keep their heads together they should win a lot of games this year.

Jamarius Williams has one helluva arm if they threw it more he would be a big name. I think his future is in baseball though.

The speed on the UP defensive line, especially Quandarius Qualls #88, was a big surprise to me. He's only a junior. That kind of pressure combined with the speed of their db's makes them a tough team to throw on.

Desmond Turner is pretty impressive. Dezian Wilson, #20 had the first long TD run. Both are sophomores.

Crummy cell video of Turner's 1st TD

I picked a great game to go home and watch. We had a blast but the UP crowd was as stunned by the margin of victory as the OCS people. Everyone just looked at each other and shook there heads after every TD. The inability to stop the run on the edges early, then the sacks and INT's after they got behind, killed OCS.

One of the OCS parents sat next to me. When their QB took that last hit, he said they should take every starter off the field and let the backups go help UP run out the clock. The UP assistant coaches came down from the press box right after that, signifying they had let off the gas.

I am a Haynesville alum. I just get to read articles every once-in-a-while on Haynesville. I did get to go to the North Webster game and Haynesville handled them pretty easily.

Is the Golden Tornado good this year?

I think they are and the OCS dad that sat next to me last night was saying he's glad they won't have to face them in the new playoff format.
I didn't see their 37 - 14 win over UP but they must have a good defense to keep them to 14 points. That's the fewest points UP has scored so far.

I think they're good every year, but I played on teams that lost to them in 1975 & 1976. Back then, Homer beat us every year too. There may still be some psychological block when playing Haynesville for kids in Farmerville.

Thanks for the response. It is about time for another state championship ring. I has been two or three years now since they won a state championship.

My wife is from Homer. Homer's coach was a very close relative. The 71 and 72 seasons were fun for both schools, especially for Haynesville.

Yeah, that was the first time in a few years. I don't recall how long though. I've forgotten the score of the game. The Farmers were a very good team and I'm glad they won the title. One of their linebacker seemed to camp in our backfield most of the game and a running back that was built like a wrecking ball (really stout) had a good game.

We faced Miller in the '99 championship. We had Andrew Robin in the backfield, though he was a Sr. in '99 and went to McNeese as did Miller later. We also had Maurice Sonnier at linebacker, he went to ULM.

I'm a Red Devil alum under Coach Perron and Broussard. Football in PB is not the same without those two. I played HS football from '82-'85 and lost in the Regionals to OCS my Sr. year.

I give Union a lot of respect along with others in the NE we've played over the years in the playoffs: Oak Grove (semifinals '97), Sterlington, OCS.

One team I don't recall us playing is Haynesville. Back in the '80s we met a few players from their team and got to talking about the mutual respect for each other and would have liked to have played each other at the time.

Props to Union on the no split vote.
