The Georgia Loss was in a weird way a Huge Recruiting Win, imho

File this away under "I'm probably overthinking things" but as I see it , as painful as this loss was, it was a recruiting "win" as well.
Our offense HAD to be attractive to any and all offensive prospects on our board. LSU has proven under Cam Cameron that they can have an exciting, multiple-offense that knows how to utilize weapons. And there will be lots of room for playing time in the near future.
And our defensive struggle had to be attractive to any defensive prospects on our board. LSU has proven under The Chief that we have a dominant defense, but our struggles prove that we have some talent deficiencies and some immediate need for defensive help at multiple positions.
In a weird way, our offensive success and defensive struggles are probably BOTH a good thing for LSU recruiting.

Yep...was thinking the same

This is one way to spin it
I think win or lose it would have had the same results though on recruiting.

Fair enough. The loss was definitely NOT necessary... ...to demonstrate how much our defense is struggling. But hey, I'm working wif what I gots...

Valid arguement but couldnt the same be said in regards to UGA's offense as well?

Sure, but we don't generally compete with Georgia for recruits.

If Hill goes to the NFL, LF WILL be the starter next year

What do you think defense recruits think when they see Welter out there? They know Beckwith should be out there.

Pimp, you have masterfully found a way to turn "wait till next year" into "wait till three years from now" and keep me excited about LSU football!

BengalRoar makes a good point too. These recruits are savvy enough to know that a player like Beckwith was highly recruited and talented but isn't getting much playing time on a defense that doesn't have all americans at his position.

Don't you all think the coaches can notice the drop-off from minter to welter?? It's obvious that he's pussy-footing around out there. OBVIOUSLY, a freshman isn't as familiar w the defense as welter, having been there the previous 3-4 years. We all know and realize beckwith is a stud and physically SHOULD be out there. Would you rather welter be in position to potentially make the play, or beckwith be in the wrong position? I know this is a message board, but, damn, y'all have any sense?! Beckwith will be on the field way more as the season progresses. Now, hopefully we can find a replacement at safety in the meantime

I don't think recruits base their decisions on individual games.

Catch 22 go with the better athlete or go with th guy who been in the system amd knows the position? Depends on how poorly the guy who knows the positon is playing. If he is allowing points or big plays why not try the better athlete and let him learn under fire. However if the guy who knows this system is just underperforming and not allowing big plays well ......

In a weird way, I can almost agree with you...

could be a good thing i guess. although, i like how saban does it and hopes he gets the best players because they want to win championships.

I'm not even sure the older seasoned guys know the position and calling the correct plays.
Bring on the young talent and see what they got.

LSU survived 1/9. This loss isn't anything major.

i really dont think it was lack of talent on defense but rather blown assignments. We have the talent already there. Kids just need to do their jobs

I absolutely don't believe that, winning is the preferred result in all aspects of the game. Period end of story.
