Now that we know what we are dealing with on defense, below are game scenarios/situations that, should LSU find themselves in, may as well mark the game down as a loss. The only two opponents remaining on our schedule that are the outliers of the below scenarios are Miss St and Furman.

1) LSU punts more than three times in a game, we lose. This defense may be good for one, maybe two defensive stops. The only team remaining on our schedule we can punt four times against would be Furman or Miss St. The other offenses we will face will march up and down the field on us with ease. Yes, that includes Arky and Ole Miss as well.

2) LSU loses/breaks even in the "points off of turnovers" battle. Notice I didn't say just TOs, but points off of TOs as well. Yesterday, LSU broke even in that category and still lost. We need to be ahead in that category by at least 7. Heck, being ahead in that category by just 3 may not cut it.

3) LSU manages to stay even in scoring possessions, but kicks 3 FGs. Our offense is going to go down as one of the most prolific in school history, but with one of the worst defenses in school history behind it, scoring TDs on almost every possession will be key. Yes, I'm aware that kicking a third FG yesterday at the end of regulation would have tied it, but we kick another in OT, we lose, which brings me to point 4

4) Should LSU be put in an OT, do not kick a FG at any point. Putting another teams offense with a first and 10 at our 25 yard line is just as good as giving them a TD. We have to go TD for TD in OT to have a shot. An OT battle with the 2013 edition will come down to 2Pt conversion battles.

5) Our opponent cannot have possession down less than 7 with any time left. The Chief clearly LOVES to play prevent defense and give up key TDs before HT and end of game. Our last three big losses, even with a great defensive team, have come in this fashion. As good as the Chief is, he seems enamored by losing games in the last seconds. LSU must get the ball with 5-7 minutes left and never let it go, or pad to a two score lead. If not, the other team is guaranteed a TD. Guaranteed. Even in games last year against USCe and aTm we did this. Good thing we had a two score lead.

There are more. I'll list them later.

Enjoy the rest of the season TigerTards! Gonna be a fun one!

Disagree on Arkie, but pretty much agree on everyone else. The defense is garbage.

Yep. Beckham's fumbled punt was the killer. We can NEVER turn the ball over with this defense.

Yep. Worst defense in the history of the school. If Delahoussaye kicks anything other than extra points, we will lose.

Well, that goes for pretty much any time, not just OT.

Multiply seconds remaining by 2, and that's how many yards the opponent will gain. If it's a particularly important possession, multiply by 3.

Pretty good points in my opinion however, Florida is a horrible team this year. I feel pretty good about beating them no matter what.

what about devastating injuries to key starters in a game? You forgot that one before you put your head back up in your arse

Also, this is actually worse than I thought.

If LSU simply has a combination of 2-3 TOs/punts they lose with this defense.

#5 came true with Ole Miss.

Sad part is, I don't see this improving any time soon.
