Precise in film making, not meaning. Everything Kubrick does, in terms of mise en scene, is intentional. Where furniture is placed, where the shot is coming from, etc. That's all meticulously laid out.


On the other hand, I think it's up for debate whether or not his meaning is "precise" or not.

There are certainly very good arguments to be made on both sides. One thing in Kubrick's films that always manifest is the tumultuous relationship between the past and the present. Every single one of his films meditates on that directly.
