Another thing to remember is that alot of time when we do goto the pass, we are in 2nd or 3rd and long. I can't recall off the top of my head what our down and distance was on that first throw to Beckham, but I seem to remember it being 3rd down (someone can correct me if I am wrong).

Anyway, in that situation the thought is to get a first down, so in this case I think Beckham wanted to turn and make the sure grab as opposed to try over the shoulder with a higher chance of dropping the ball, but a higher chance the defender doesn't catch him and its a TD. The priority is always moving the chains.
