Yeah but trust me the barrels are new, they aren't old. There is a rear sight on them and a fiber optic on the end. No way they could be original IF the gun is as old as it appears to be from the conversation here.

They do look newer... If the factory letter comes back at any length other than 30" you have your answer. There should be 3 serial numbers on the gun, the action (under the top lever) on the barrels and on the forearm. They should all match. If they do and the barrel lengths do not match the Cody letter then you know it has been re-barreled. Done at the factory, it will not hurt the value tremendously...
It is also possible that the other barrels, if another set was made, are still fine and at the home that no one noticed...
