My strategy was always to chart the coast line and then move inland.

That loading screen brings back the memories.

Ah, Pirates, Archon/chess game, Defender of the Crown, and the whole slew of SSI games.

Mine too. I would always try to inch up toward the Chief and then some dickbag native would bump into me and all hell would break loose.
