That doesn't mean that everyone who buys a gun is inept though.

Sure, it takes some skill to shoot. But for a gun salesman to look someone in the eye and say "I don't think you have the right to defend yourself until you get trained" would be ridiculous.

No, but I think it is reasonable for someone to have to take a couple hour course on how to handle a firearm before purchasing. A little education goes a long way and this would be a small sacrifice.

Just as ridiculous to look into someone's eye and say "hey, you know what you're doing." I'm not saying lets go give the gov't all our personal info. I'm saying lets sacrifice 2-3 hours a couple times in our lives to help increase the amount of firearm education in our society.
