I'm gonna jump in and follow LSUFreek's post about mean-spirited posts on this board in hopes that now that Freek has spoken, others will listen.

I see people posting on here about fat cheerleaders, ugly kids, etc. Why? So you can laugh? So you can try to make others laugh? At what expense?

Just the mere possibility that, for example, a cheerleader, who a poster is pointing out is overweight, gets told to visit this board will see the cruelty in the worse sense. These what you'd consider no-name people you are mocking could be traumatized for your feeble attempt to laugh. Why is that worth it?

And then I see people posting pictures of little kids with bad haircuts, mocking them. Seriously? When did an adult making fun of an 8 year old become funny? I don't care if it's the parents fault that aided in getting that child its bad haircut. It's flat out cruel to mock him/her and shows the levels of cruelty some posters in this community can go to for a simple laugh.

Freek's example of what is funny and what is not funny hit it spot on. You don't need to be on a soapbox to make or understand these points. You just need to have empathy for those you're mocking and imagine if they saw your cruel comments, how would they react?
