I would think you would always want someone back there on a Field Goal attempt. You never know when it is going to be short or partially blocked. Plus usually the kicking team is just standing around looking at the kick to see if it is good. I think more teams will be paying attention now on Field Goal Attempts!!

In most cases it is better to let the ball hit the ground on a miss than to try to return it. OBJ got lucky on that return and was able to get a touchdown against their slow kicking line, but he very well could have been tackled before he got back to the line of scrimmage where we would have taken over.
