in case I don't like it or I physically can't (old shoulder/elbow injury).

Don't give up on it if it hurts for the first few paddles. I got my first kayak a few months after going over the handlebars of my mountain bike. I had bilateral radial head fractures in both arms. It hurt like hell he first few paddles and I could hear the bones cracking and popping as I paddled. I thought I had wasted money on the kayak it hurt so bad. It took 3-4 weeks and the pain went away.

I also have a right shoulder with a torn rotator cuff, calcific tendnitiois and bursitis. I've had to alter my paddle stroke to a lower angle stroke during longer paddles, but usually have no issues on shorter paddles unless the conditions are rough and I'm doing a lot of bracing which puts more pressure on the shoulder.

I'm having surgery on the 26th to have the shoulder repaired and the calcium deposits cleaned up a bit. Will be 6 months before I can get back in the yak.
