I'm not sure I've never killed one in velvet but all mounts I've seen in velvet look good

If treated correctly they don't suffer any degradation beyond what would be normal for taxidermy.

Like regular antlers. Velvet dries and is cleaned off but they will miss the character given to them by the deer rubbing them against trees.
