And...? That means you prefer what Cristobal has to offer? They couldn't plug a hole against VT with far superior talent if they were building brick walls.

Did it affect Saban when he lost 5 of the top 7 in Bama a few years ago?

Do you think he'd love to have Winston on board right now?

Taking, on average, 2 kids a year in La isn't "heating" up.

I'll admit it's not good. But it's not sooo bad that it will affect either program. Both schools recruit at such a high level, all it is is reloading a position.

That is 2 of the last 3 years one team "the f*cking gumps" have come in a taken the top recruit in the state. Satan is just starting to heat up recruiting in our state. People think this is not a problem, but it truly is.Try and gloss over it and say it is just one recruit or we pull OOS recruits too and you are being myopic.

This is just ridiculous. You're not going to get EVERY player from your state. It depends on the kid. If I were a top recruit in any state, I might want to go to a completely different state to broaden my horizons, to experience new things.

Think about it. You grow up in Baton Rouge. Does EVERY kid want to stay in Baton Rouge? Not at all. Some kids want to go to Georgia, Florida, the East Coast, the West Coast. It depends on the quality of the program/education and what you want for yourself.

In other words, the sky is not falling.

I heard once from a great CFB coach that it is not the great players you miss that kill the program but the ones that get free rides on the pine that do a program in. Meaning that it is ok to miss a player but the one you sign must contribute and make the roster better than before.

Some players develop more quickly than others, Robinson was definitely one of them. Hopefully LSU can find someone to develop into his caliber of a player, which will be elite.

It actually hurts losing a high profile in state guy more than his talent going to Alabama. LSU will be fine in the talent category, but really needs the expectations among elite HS players to be that the in state program is the one to attend.

Wow took finebaum 8 minutes to mention c rob.

It's crazy the machine bama has going on all levels. They've convinced ESPN to nationally syndicate their mouthpiece to spew their message.

I hated that but we will be fine. I think CRob & some others let media bias against CLM affect them negatively. Never do you hear on TV Saban has another timeclock meltdown or pics of him eating grass. To these players w/ social media constantly rating coaches either good or bad, CLM gets slammed hard. I think CRob has heard it from others & did not want to be associated w/ CLM/LSU. On the other hand, the players that we do get don't give a rats arse about that crap.

We still have many 5* w/ us in their top 3/5 & will pick up more than most think.

So, screw Bama &

I want to dethrone Bama and become the premier program in the SEC. To do that, we can't cede incremental talent advantages to Bama, especially with in-state players.

Us and every other program not named Bama has the same goal. The problem is that these aren't draft picks that have no choice as to where they go. LSU can want him and woo him and bend over backwards for these recruits, but in the end the decision is made by the player.

Best part about all this is that everyone forgets that we won the LSUvBama battle last year for the #1 in state guy with Beckwith. And yes, that includes me not giving a frick about the fact that ESPN said Tim Williams was the #1 guy.

That's alright let the rat jump on the sinking ship! With the playoff's coming the gumps will have to start playing a real schedule and we all know what happens then..... Even with a easy sched they lose...

Kendall Beckwith says Hi.

Yep and everyone was sweating the sh*t out of his commit also if you remember correctly. I am ecstatic we signed Kendall but losing LC and now CRob is a problem. This is showing signs of a trend and the trend is not in our favor. If we don't start trying to analyze and fix the problem it is only going to get worse and that will not be good for LSU.

I simply can't agree with that. Whoever LSU signs to replace Robinson will be a lesser ranked player, less desirable even according to our own staff. Bama gets an incrementally better player, LSU gets an incrementally worse player. Over time, expecially in a series that has been markes by close games, those incremental differences translate to wins and losses.

Exactly.

This rests on the assumption that the player we sign won't develop into a better player than Cam, and that's not always the case. Plenty of players who weren't highly recruit turn out to be big stars.

Of course it isn't always the case but there's a definite reason why this guy was so highly recruited. It's a problem when a player like this chooses Bama. LSU isn't plucking the top players out of Bama's backyard.

Sure it's great that Miles is bringing in Top 10 classes but Bama is regularly getting #1 class and the results of that recruiting is shown on the field where LSU is fighting for 2nd in the west.
