Withheld from play means he is being withheld from game play. What the hell else could it mean?
It doesn't specify what length of gameplay time. That's what most want to know. A series, the first play, a quarter, half, what???

A whole game, the first 6 games, the whole season...what??????

The SEC title game?

The National Championship game?

4th and 1, LSU is down by 6, 1 second remaining and LSU has the ball on the opponent 1 yard line of the NCG. Is that what he will be withheld from?

From a different article:

quote:

Miles reiterated that point again Thursday evening, though an interesting choice of words might give some glimpse into what’s in store for Hill.
He’s serving punishment currently, and there will be withholding,” Miles said.
Withholding? Miles has only used that phrase once, and that was when he “withheld” Tharold Simon, Tyrann Mathieu and Spencer Ware from the Auburn game in 2011. Does it hold the same meaning now?
From playing time,” Miles clarified. “That’s my thought.”
