nah. have been busy with work though, so if others have suggested we trade either Colston or Moore for a starting LB in the last week, I've missed it.

Was I drunk in suggesting that? Nope, but I WAS tired after finishing a 16 at the hospital; but this morning the idea still seems intriguing. I think it would take balls on the Saints' part, because
a) it would mean we have enough confidence in the remaining receivers to cut ties with a core player,
b) we (the Saints) would have to solicit the trade.

It might be hard for Payton to do something like this, as Colston and Moore are pretty high up on his list of "my guys". Coming in after missing a year, Payton might value having those 2 guys on the team more than having "a better player" from outside.

The move would have to be made before cuts, so you don't risk cutting your WR depth to make the final 53, and also don't risk carrying too many WRs and too few LBs in the event you can't make the deal.

And you'd have to find a team who'd covet Moore or Colston (New England or Chicago, maybe), but they'd need to have the necessary young LB to be worthwhile (I dunno who has 3 legit starters at OLB). Clearly it would be nice if we could package Will Smith into the deal, but I don't think we could trade Smith outright for anything right now.

Otherwise, the Saints are in a bit of a tight spot- they have too many WRs that fit their system well (and too many doesn't help them win more games than having "enough"), and still lack a legit OLB, one that can make a real difference.
