You do know they make money off of YouTube views right? So music videos are important for many reasons.
Popular songs and good videos get like 50 million+ views.

Remember when actual groundbreaking videos like "Sledgehammer" and "Tonight Tonight" use to actually win?
Nowadays it's not so much who had the best video as it is who had the best pop hit of the year.
