Cant you say this about a lot of teams though. It 07 we were a couple first downs from knocking off LSU. Last year, Oregon was a missed OT FG from playing for it. If WVU doesn't totally TANK a game in 07 against Pitt they play for it. Okie St. would've played for it in 11 if they don't lose to ISU. We were number 3, they lost and we moved to number 2 like it has always been.
A game is 60 minutes long and the last play is as important as the first. One team makes them, the other doesn't. Yea, LSU had a chance last year but our defense also rose up when they had to. If if's and but's were candy and nuts......
If Kstate or Oregon wins and LSU beats Bama, LSU still dosent play for the title. Teams win, they don't drop in the polls. The NCAA basketball tourney selects teams from a pot and play a tourney. Football does not, it matters where you are ranked after the final regular season or championship games have been played and that is all that matters. If 1 and 2 win their last game, they play for the title. They weren't gonna jump LSU over Oregon and Kstate had they both won. It would've been Kstate and Oregon for the title No matter what happened in the SEC championship game.
