Its all original, by no means in mint condition. Shoots great, only thing wrong is it is missing a grip

Can you post pictures?
Lots of these guns were made and lots are for sale, many in excellent condition. A mint example with box recently sold for $1,000, however that is at the high end of the spectrum for a collector grade gun. A well used specimen missing a grip panel? Probably around $200.
Gunbroker is a great tool to use when studying the market for Colts:

Pop deals in antiques and we found a 1908 wrapped in a bank bag stuffed in a secret compartment of an old letter desk. he had it appraised. $950 i think. SN put it in a 1924 run.
ETA: sorry, didn't realize the vest was a .25. his is a .380

Would love to hear the story behind that.
I read a story a few years back about some old building in Detroit that was being demolished. Before they hit it with the wrecking ball they were stripping out all of the copper pipe and wire and ran across a couple of Tommy Guns tucked away in an old air return vent. They had probably been there since Prohibition.

they (pop and his gf) buy out estates. the letter desk was part of an estate that belonged to a local pharmacist who passed. that's really all there is to tell. we thought it was cool that it was wrapped in an old Calcasieu Marine Bank money bag. we don't know if it was his or a previous owner.
